Saturday October 15
9:30 - 12:00
Are you brand new to yoga or have been practicing for a while and would like to know more?
Join Alice Riccardi at Scarborough Yoga for this 2.5-hour workshop and learn more about the basic tools of a vinyasa yoga practice.
In this workshop you will study:
- Tadasana (mountain pose) – the pose that is the base for all yoga poses. We will explore what is called the “centerline” and how our understanding of this tool can bring ease to stillness and movement.
- Sun Salutation A and B (Surya Namaskar) – The poses in these two flowing sequences are the bread and butter of vinyasa. We will look at:
- Downward dog
- High push up
- Low push up
- Upward dog
- Warrior one.
- Stacking the Joints and Neutral Alignment
Keeping it simple and understanding principles is key to all students, especially students who are new to a yoga practice. The goal in our yoga practice is as BKS Iyengar, master yoga teacher said, “to bring ease with very little effort into each and every pose”.
Alice Riccardi (500 Hour Baptiste Power Yoga Teacher) worked for Baron Baptise for 3 years before opening the first vinyasa yoga studio in Portland, Portland Power Yoga in 2006.
